Carl is exactly the kind of person I want to highlight with this podcast. Two years ago, he moved from Seattle to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming a comedian and has been working hard at it ever since. I learned a lot from him about the comedy scene there, and how one goes about trying to make a living as a professional. What works great for this podcast, is that he’s pretty analytical by nature, and explains the interconnectedness of all the different threads within comedy and the entertainment industry as a whole. While it’s easy for those of us on the outside to assume that some people are just naturally born with amazing talent, and that their success is almost inevitable, Carl does a great job of showing how making a living in comedy, like anything else, centers around being proactive and working hard at your craft. In other words, he highlights the often-unseen connection between the mega-success of well-known comedians and the work they put in early on. If you’ve ever wanted to know how the world of comedy works from the inside, I think you’ll really like this conversation.
